Nordson YESTECH, a subsidiary of Nordson Corporation (NASDAQ: NDSN) and a leading supplier of automated optical and conformal coat inspection systems for the electronics industry, recently installed two FX-940 ULTRA 3D AOI systems at Burton Industries, Inc.’s manufacturing facility in Ironwood, Michigan. The family-owned, service-focused and values-driven contract manufacturing provider is redefining the contract manufacturing relationship.
Burton Industries is focused on helping its customers become more competitive, and has done just that with its new 3D AOI systems. The company makes its customers look good by building products right, every time, and responsively meeting their production schedules. Burton Industries works within a quality framework that includes ISO 9001:2008 and ISO 13458: 2003 certifications, as well as use Lean manufacturing principles to increase efficiency and minimize defect opportunities. This is where the need for 3D AOI comes in.
“The new FX-940 machines will allow for greater efficiency which means lower cost for our customers while keeping pace with today’s emerging technologies,” said Burton Industries Director of Business Development, Gary Burnett, Jr.
The FX-940 ULTRA utilizes advanced 3D imaging technology to provide true volumetric height information for the accurate inspection of component bodies, lead banks and solder joints. The system utilizes multi-fringe digital projection, a high resolution single top-down viewing camera, along with four side-viewing cameras.
The Nordson FX-940 ULTRA 3D AOI system offers accurate and powerful 3D inspection capabilities, ease of programming, as well as YESTECH’s excellent customer support. The advanced image processing technology integrates several techniques, including 3D inspection, color inspection, normalized correlation and rule-based algorithms, to provide complete inspection coverage with an unmatched low false failure rate.
