Hyderabad becoming electronic cluster: KTR

Hyderabad: Telangana government is making efforts to attract investments in the electronic sector. Hyderabad has already witnessed companies such as Celkon, Micromax, DataWind and Smatron setting up manufacturing units and research and development centres in Hyderabad.

While Government of India is encouraging manufacturing in India and more so in electronics sector, Telangana government too is taking active measures to provide ecosystem for companies to set up base and flourish.

Addressing at the inauguration of Smatron’s new office in Hyderabad on Friday, K T Rama Rao, Minister of IT and Industries, Government of Telangana said, “The growth in electronic sector will create more blue collar jobs. Several experts in the space from across Asia are coming and training the staff working in the electronics manufacturing facilities and this exercise will help build the skill capabilities in the long run.”

“We are talking to two more electronics companies which are interested in setting up manufacturing operations in the State. Mobile R&D activity is picking up in Hyderabad as the existing companies are setting up full-fledged centres. Micromax for instance is setting up a centre in one acre land. R&D efforts of Smartron will also help the ecosystem in the future,” he added.

Emphasising that technology remains the key growth driver of the State, KTR said, the State is contemplating to launch tcloud soon.
