BENGALURU: Germany-based antennas and broadcast equipment manufacturer Kathrein today opened its first regional customer experience centre in Bengaluru in a move to expand its activities in the Asia-Pacific region.
“The location in Bengaluru is very important for our future growth in the significant APAC region,” said Anton Kathrein, CEO of the Kathrein Group. “At the new premises, we are showcasing our unique technology competence and our full range of specialist solutions and services.”
Billed as one of the oldest communication technology manufacturers, kathrein makes a host of equipment – cellphone towers, satellite reception system, TV broadcast antennas broadband technology, mobile communication amongst others.
While the company’s core competence lies in designing and manufacturing antennas for cellular networks, they have also been concentrating on new-age technologies like Internet of Things (IOT), Autonomous cars, and digitization of smart cities.
With the onset of connected devices, the company is looking to leverage its Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology. For instance, the company provides technology for auto-identification of missing products in a factory or tracking transport carriers like container trucks throughout their journey.
“Our regional customer experience centre in Bengaluru offers expert support to our customers on topics such as Industry 4.0 and vehicle connectivity, as well as the Internet of Things (IOT), Autonomous cars, and digitization of smart cities.
“Our strengths in managing digitized buildings and traffic management would fit right into the smart cities initiatives of the Indian government,” said Ashwini Bakshi, MD, APAC Region of Kathrein.
“The centre in Bangalore will showcase solutions which show how a multiplicity of signals – satellite signals, wired signals, wireless signals – can be managed within a large building by improving coverage and steering capacity”.
