MUMBAI: Pricol, a Coimbatore headquartered automotive component maker has inaugurated a new factory on the outskirts of Pune. The company expects the new facility in Phulgaon, which is spread over 6.58 acres to bring in Rs 200 crore of incremental business in the next couple of years.
The new investments in Pune will cater to the growing electronic cluster business for two wheeler, commercial vehicle, off road and tractor segments. The investments in electronics manufacturing will also contribute to the growing body control module and telematics businesses of the company.
The plant also has New technology Pump production lines catering to the domestic and export markets. With manufacturing operations in Indonesia, Brazil and India, the new plant in Pune will add impetus to the manufacturing operations of Pricol in the global market.
Vikram Mohan, MD of Pricol Limited said, “While India continues to emerge as a global auto hub, one of the cities that has contributed towards this growth is Pune. Pricol’s new Greenfield plant in Pune, will not only cater to the requirement of the growing Indian market, but further strengthen our position by serving as a key manufacturing unit for Pricol’s global operations.”
The company says the new facility incorporates green concepts of solar power and variable frequency drive (VFD) air conditioning. Roof-top solar panels fulfils 40% of the daily power requirement and the production lines are designed on lean manufacturing principle with improved layout for streamlined material flow to ensure quality consistency and material efficiency.
