2017 SEMICON SEA officially opens in Penang

GEORGE TOWN: The 2017 SEMICON Southeast Asia (SEA) was officially launched at Subterranean Penang International Convention & Exhibition Centre (SPICE) Arena here today.

There is an increase of up to 30 per cent in attendees, with 305 companies from 13 countries, and over 7,500 visitors expected over the three-day exhibition, which is now in its third year.

During the event, key industry leaders will share their insights on technology innovation including the Internet of Things (IoT) that will bring significant transformation to the manufacturing sector.

“It will also examine the revolution of Disruptive Technology that has opened up new market opportunities.

“SEMICON SEA 2017 will showcase the trends, technologies and opportunities driving smart manufacturing in the electronics markets,” said SEMI SEA President Ng Kai Fai today.

The exhibition was launched by International Trade and Industry Minister (MATRADE) Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed while Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng was also present.

“For the huge number of companies participating in this event, I urge the industry players present today to leverage on your interactions throughout these three days to find partners to collaborate with and explore new business opportunities,” Mustapa said in his speech.

The exhibition will feature a Future Electronics Manufacturing Pavilion, Failure Analysis Pavilion and World of IoT: Futura-X.

Next year’s exhibition will be held at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (Mitec) at MATRADE in Kuala Lumpur from May 8 to 10.
