electronica India and Productronica India 2014 register record participation

India’s largest electronic trade-shows, electronica India 2014 and Productronica India 2014, registered unprecedented visitor turnout and record participation this year riding on Prime Minister Modi’s “Make in India” call. According to the organiser, MMI India, 341 exhibitors, representing 713 companies, showcased their products, solutions and services at the trade fairs from September 23 to 25, 2014 at the Bangalore International Exhibition Centre (BIEC), Bengaluru. Also, 13,906 visitors attended the trade fairs in Bengaluru this year, registering a 20% increase in footfalls than its previous edition. This reflects the confidence of the electronics components and the ESDM industry in India both as a market for electronic products as well as a base for low-cost manufacturing.

The trade fairs had a grand opening with participation from the government officials, leading associations, industry professionals and technical experts. Speaking at the inaugural session of ‘DEFTRONICS’ conference on India’s Defence and Aerospace sector on 23rd September, which was organised by India Electronics and Semiconductor Association (IESA) & MMI India, Karnataka’s Minister of IT, BT and S&T, S R Patil said, “The electronics sector has enormous potential in terms of employment and revenue, but it still it remains largely untapped. India spent roughly $30 billion on imports of electronic products and components which will significantly go up if we do not encourage domestic ESDM ecosystem.”

Other accompanying programs were LEDCON, IPC INDIA 2014 Conference & Workshop, ELCINA Seminar and SMT Workshop. Dr. M. V. Ramana Rao, President, of LED Product Manufacturers’ Associations (LEDMA) said: “The LED industry in India is poised for a definite growth in the next two years, with some segments like lighting gaining popularity among customers. Facing acute energy shortage, state governments are taking measures to reduce power consumption by opting for LED lighting. This year at electronica India and Productronica India, an exclusive LEDMA conference – LEDCON and LED pavilion made it more appealing for visitors and beneficial for the exhibitors as the whole electronic components manufacturing ecosystem was accessible.” A couple of free accompanying programmes made it attractive for visitors too.

Dr. Ajay Kumar, Jt.Secretary – Department of Electronics and Information Technology (DeitY), said: “I congratulate MMI India, the organizers of electronica India and Productronica India for creating a platform that brings all the electronics manufacturing and components industry under one roof and create a great networking forum to exchange ideas and conduct business.” The trade fairs were supported by leading associations like Indian Electronics & Semiconductor Association (IESA), ELCINA Electronic Industries Association of India (ELCINA), Consortium of Electronic Industries of Karnataka (CLIK), LED products Manufacturers’ Association of India (LEDMA), to name a few.

Reacting to the tremendous success of the event, Bhupinder Singh, Acting CEO of MMI India said, “It gives me immense pleasure to announce that once again, electronica India and Productronica India has received tremendous response from the visitors and exhibitors alike. The trade fairs are benchmark of the electronics components and production technology industry, taking the Indian electronics industry to an all together different platform in the global arena”.

Another highlight of the trade fairs was the Buyer-Seller forum. This forum fulfilled the requirement of large electronics hardware manufacturers by connecting them with the best suppliers. The buyers got the chance to shortlist the suppliers based on their requirements and engage in a focused one on one discussion. Companies who attended were Amar Raja, Aristos EMS, Centum Electronics, Flextronics, Indic EMS, Kaynes, L & T, Micron EMS, Pricol, Rangsons, Sahasra, Sanjay Technologies, Sanmina, SGS Techniks, Smile, TE and many more.

Mr. Soni Saran Singh, Executive Director of NMTronics India and Managing Director of iNETest Technologies India said: “We have been exhibitors for over 8 times now at electronica India and productronica India, and have in a sense, grown along with the event. Apart from the fact that the event is a very good platform to showcase our innovation and world-class technology, we have in a way built on our brand by participating at the trade fairs. Our global partners also have made it a point to make an India stop-over to attend the event and get a sense of our growing market. They are also keenly following the fortunes of our promising automobile sector where they see a tremendous potential for our products and services.”

The next edition of electronica India and productronica India will take place from September 9 to 11, 2015 at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi.
